On Thursday the 8th of August I asked Kathy to marry me. She said yes! She probably thought about time :) For me though, the time and the place felt perfect.
A couple of weeks after returning from a trip of a lifetime exploring the Americas together. Sat on our beloved Ilkley moor, huddled under an umbrella in the rain, looking out over a place that will always be home for me. For us both I am sure.
So many memories, it felt right that this special moment also should be rooted here.
Even the rain was a mostly welcome novelty. Plus, we got the place to all too ourselves.
It was a whirlwind ride, from returning to the UK, deciding Ilkley moor was the place and the time was now, to popping the question can't have been more than a few hectic weeks. I barely told anyone of my plans.
However, it was worth it. I was delighted that I was able to surprise Kathy. Not sure what she thought I was doing dragging her on a walk on the moor in the rain, but she wasn't expecting a ring. A love-heart ring at that. And if you know Kathy, you will know how hard it is to surprise her. She loves guessing surprises, presents, plot twists. You name it. So to hide this from her was a real success.
Then two days later we were heading down to London in a moving van. Kathy bagged us a cracking flat in Upper Holloway, literally minutes from our last spot. We slotted straight back into our old London lives.
Anyway, I am writing all this partly to celebrate and memorialise happy milestone in our shared lives together.
However, I also wanted to express deep gratitude to all our friends who have been there for parts of our journey over the years and all those who made the trip down to London to celebrate with us.
It was bloody lovely to see you all.
I said this during my speech, but it is worth repeating because it is pretty wild. Many of you have only ever known Kathy and I as two halves of a whole. We have all shared a lot of adventures together.
We love and appreciate you all!
We had an absolute blast with you all at the Spit and Sawdust and we definitely hit the jackpot with Corsica Studios.
See you at the wedding, whenever that happens to be. Hopefully we will have some updates about that soon, but I can't promise anything. House hunting has taken priority, but fingers crossed we will be over that hurdle soon.
Much Love xxxWill & Kathy

Here is the playlist from our party if you are interested. It winds up nicely, don't shuffle it.
